Learning model

"Children learn and adapt to science-based learning techniques, as well as play and acquire co-ordination skills through various spiritual, mental, emotional and physical activities, from an early age so that they may to grow  to become leaders and innovators of industries, current and new. When children from disadvantaged backgrounds or marginalised communities learn sciences early, this should remove the fear of taking up maths and engineering-oriented subjects and later, careers, as they grow up exposed to the same, thereby bringing them to be at par with their privileged counterparts." Ms F.D. Bogatsu, Founder of GUASc).

Applying “soft skills” such as play and learn creativity, collaboration, communication and emotional intelligence to technical STEM knowledge unlocks the potential for purposeful and impactful innovation whilst enhancing the development of the human capabilities and society at large.

The Fourth Industrial Revolution requires that today’s Children and Youth are equipped with the skills, tools and mindsets needed to think creatively, leverage technology wisely and solve wicked problems collectively. Answering the call, leading education systems around the world are striving to integrate STEM, STEAM and Maker learning experiences into students’ daily lives. Globally, we are moving away from an antiquated industrial approach toward one more suitable for today’s digital natives ( Dr. Gina Cherkowski**).

LEARNING MODEL

Junior School playgrounds

“Celebrate your Identity – discover your Wings” is the guiding principle of the GCUA Science School in Gauteng, Johannesburg. Thus the school profile focuses on conveying the biblical values of Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, and being my brothers' keeper in a camaraderie cultured community.  The school focuses on quality not only during lessons but also beyond them. Thus the school concept sees recess as an opportunity to supplement and support cognitive learning in class through physical exercise. Social interaction is also encouraged during recess.

The play equipment we use will allow age-appropriate access and at the same time offer an exciting challenge for the little ones.

In addition, the passage over the close-meshed net bridge or a sliding section in the toddler slide trains the sense of balance and thus fosters the next developmental stage.

Tasks in the art room stimulate creativity and social interaction skills in each child..
